Nuvoton Launched New Member of 32-bit Cortex-M0 Microcontroller Series – Mini51

Nuvoton announced the launch of new 32-bit Cortex-M0 microcontroller series – Mini51. Nuvoton Mini51 series are highly-integrated microcontrollers, have the same characteristics of M051 series and are powered by the ARM® Cortex-M0 processor - the smallest, lowest power and most energy-efficient ARM processor available today, with built-in various analog and mix-signal components, multiple high speed communication interfaces, fulfill customers’ demanding needs for smaller code space、tiny package、low power consumption、low cost and high performance.

Nuvoton Mini51 series runs up to 24MHz (21.6 DMIPS), with single-cycle 32-bit hardware multiplier, Nested Vectored Interrupt Controller for 32 interrupt inputs, 4K~16K Bytes flash memory, 2K Bytes SRAM, programmable data flash, integrated high speed communication interface : SPI (24MHz), I2C (1M), UART (16-FIFO, 1M). Analog peripherals including 8-channel 10-bit ADC, 2 comparators, power-on-reset and brown-out detector.

Mini51 provides up to three 16-bit PWM generators and six PWM outputs, each PWM generator comes with individual clock source, clock divider, 8-bit pre-scale, Dead-Zone generator and supports edge alignment or center alignment. The other features include: two-channel 32-bit timers, 10 KHz low power oscillator for Watchdog timer and Idle mode wake-up, dynamic calibrating the 22.1184 MHz RC OSC to +/-1% from - 40°C to 85°C by external 32.768K crystal oscillator.

Development Tools

Nuvoton provides easy to use NuTiny-Mini51 SDK development tool and Nu-LB-Mini51 learning board, both support ARM microcontroller development kit MDK-ARM and IAR EWARM integrated development environment which include project manager, editor, compiler, C-SPY debugger. Another free and open development environment CooCox (www.coocox.com/Nuvoton.htm) also supports Mini51 series. Customers can use Nuvoton’s proprietary In System Program or In Circuit Program functions to update the system either on-line or off-line in order to increase flexibility and convenience in manufacturing.

Package and Availability

Samples are now available for Nuvoton Mini51 series, the chips are in QFN-33 or LQFP-48 package. Same package offers variable program code space. Mass production is scheduled in December 2011
